Pau Vall-Prat
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid–IC3JM. Before joining the UC3M–IC3JM, I was a researcher at the Institutions and Political Economy Research Group (IPERG–Universitat de Barcelona).
I hold a BA in Political Science and Public Administration and a Research Master in Political Science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and a MSc Political Science and Political Economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. As a graduate student I have been a visiting researcher at Yale University (Fall 2019) and at the University of Gothenburg (Fall 2021). I have the Assistant Professor accreditation from AQU (Professor Lector) and ANECA (Profesor Ayudante Doctor).
I defended my dissertation, entitled The Political Economy of Regional Elite Splits, at the Universitat de Barcelona in 2022. My thesis focused on intra-elite conflicts in democratization periods, especially on the origins of intra-elite splits and how elite parties compete under electoral autocratic regimes. The dissertation has received the PhD Extraordinary Award (UB), the Juan Linz Prize (CEPC), and it was shortlisted for the Jean Blondel Prize (ECPR).
My work has been published (or is forthcoming) in the British Journal of Political Science, Comparative Political Studies, and West European Politics, among other journals.
